My Favorite Hymn: Sweet Hour of Prayer

This song reminds the Christian of the glory of prayer. :) What a thought that we as God's Children have the privilege to come to God for anything and everything (great or small, present or future, trial or blessing). God is our Father and that time with Him in prayer and communion is the sweetest and most rewarding time one can ever spend in this life here on earth. And to think that one day, there will be no need for prayer because Our Father will wipe every tear from our eyes and give us every blessing to enjoy. :)

Sweet Hour of Prayer by William Walford

Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father's throne
Make all my wants and wishes known;
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the Tempter's snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer.

Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless;
And since He bids me seek his face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I'll cast on Him my ev'ry care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer.

Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah's lofty height,
I view my home, and take my flight:
This robe of flesh I'll drop, and rise
To seize the everlasting prize;
And shout, while passing through the air,
"Farewell, farewell sweet hour of prayer."

The last verse of that song is probably my favorite; it reminds me that this world is not my home. I have an eternal everlasting home waiting for me when I drop "this robe of flesh." How sweet it will be when we can be with Christ face-to-face and truly say, "farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer."
