Scars--Reminders of Salvation

I have a scar on my ankle from when I fell several months ago on a patch of black ice. Every time I look at my ankle, I see my scar and am reminded of how painful it was to fall and gouge my ankle open on the church parking lot. Life leaves scars: some emotional, some physical, but ALL providential. It's true that God never allows anything in our lives unless is has been planned by him for our good: "for we know that ALL THINGS work together for good to them who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose" (Rom. 8:28). Well, whenever I view the scar on my ankle, I try to think of the scars left on my Lord's hands, feet, and side. When I see my scars, I think of my Lord's sacrifice. Not only did He have the physical pain of the nails pierced through his hands and feet, He had the emotional pain of total separation from God. He carried the weight of the sins of the world on His shoulders. Our Jesus took it ALL on himself, so that we could live a life at peace with God. What a wonderful thing God has done for us. How can I do anything, but glory in my Redeemer! :)
